I initially made a sketch and liked the pose so I just went with it. Used various mixed textures and brushes using concept art techniques.

Girl On The Hill - Matte

Thanks for those who gave crit on my WIP. As I said before, don't know how many refs I used in the end.. but there are more than 150 images in my file..of course I didn't use them all, but probably half are in there somewhere :P, however the girls is mostly painted.
Not a traditional matte I know.. going for more a painted style. Took.. well far too long in the end :P but I had fun. Anyway I really hope this does something for someone crit always welcome.

Death Dealer (Frazetta's)

Trying to capture Frazetta's style here, as opposed to the more realistic style we usually go for in these galleries.
I love Frazetta's work so much, and particularly this guy - the Death Dealer, as I'm sure so many other people do also on CGtalk. Painted in photoshop as fan art without reference except for Frazetta's own work for the character reference. Because of the pose I chose the hands were a pain, and I'm still not really satisfied with his right hand, but I guess I have to finish it sometime! I modeled a couple of elements in Max when I had trouble setting the pose. Finally spent quite a while composing it. Thanks for the help on my WIP for those who replied, was very helpful.

Comments and crit most welcome! Cheers.
